Ecological Perspective

I believe that the Ecological Perspective thoroughly and accurately describe the dynamics of family and marriage. This theory deals with five different systems that all have an impact on the individual. These systems include; micro, meso, external, macro, and chrono, each representing a different part of human interaction and development. I think this theory is very thorough and dynamic in explaining that there are many factors that influence and effect an individual person in society, and that this is always happening throughout time. These experiences shape people, their actions, attitudes, values, and behaviors, making their interactions within families and marriages varied, and also shaping how the family and marriage is as a whole. For the family and marriage, this can be both a good thing, such as positive change, and/or a bad thing, such as differing views on values, but above all a very true thing. Overall, the way we interact with these different levels and systems determines how we interact within our own family and/or marriage. I used a picture of a family from the show modern family. I think this family, and the show in general, are very good examples of the ecological perspective at work; a depiction of how personal lives and experiences can and do affect family and marriage.
