Ecological Perspective Theory

Out of all the theories we’ve discussed, I find the ecological perspective theory to be the most conceivable in examining families and marriage. This open approach in sociological thinking takes into account, both the direct and unseen forces of influence that may play upon and shape an individual throughout his/her lifetime (Micro-system à Chrono-system), and how the existence of this individual may affect the life sphere of another.

The following image is a simplistic, visual portrayal of the ecological perspective model. The ripples represent the corresponding layers/systems of the model. The ripples of one water drop may coalesce with another’s, symbolizing influential impact.
