Racial Inequality within Institutions

Although many universities around the U.S. are very race-conscious and make it a point to admit students all different backgrounds there is still a racial gap within education and that is within the actual teaching field. Statistics show that black professors hold less than 5% of faculty positions as well as less than 5% of the K-12 positions. And interestingly enough, 85% of black teachers/professors are centered around urban areas.
I chose this picture because realistically you do not see an african american teacher or principal at a very white dominant school or classroom, so this picture to me is very ideal to what we should have when it comes to the racial gap within education. Schools are making sure that they are admitting students of all races and backgrounds so they should also make it a point to hire and pay faculty members of all backgrounds equally as long as they are qualified
