Gender Discrimination

Discrimination is a denial of opportunities and equal rights to individuals and groups because of prejudice or other reasons. Gender status or position of being male or female in our society affects all aspects of our lives. Our gender depends on the privileges we will or will not have in our lives. Whether it is for our education or our present/future jobs, our gender has a lot to do with the way we are being treated. Especially for women because not only are they being discriminated for being female but are also included in the minority group, which is a category of people who are subjected to unequal treatment by the dominant group, who in this case are males. In general, women earn less than men in 99% of all occupations. Minority women earn less than white males and females in majority of occupations. Females constitute 59% of workers who get paid less than $8 and hour. There is also occupational segregation where for example, in the military there are more men than women working. As well as female physicians earn less money than males. It is unfair.
