Discrimination

This image depicts discrimination against a person that is seen as different than the others. In this photo it shows how people in society discriminate on people based on certain characteristics such as; race, class, ethnicity, sexuality, and etc. The people with the disadvantaged characteristics get treated differently and ultimately get treated unequally. Therefore, having fewer opportunities and resources compared to the privileged people. These people that are being discriminated against can also be seen as marginalized, people that are treated unequally and have a harder time being recognized in society. For example, woman are treated with individual discrimination because they earn less than men in the workforce. According to the Department of Labor 2007 statistics, women are still only dominating fields and industries that are often seen as "female", like those of teachers and nurses and not jobs like engineers, and doctors. As a result, woman are treated unequal and being discriminated against.
