Gender Inequality

Gender inequality within our society denotes the obvious gap and difference of characteristics or capabilities between men and women. In the workplace, there is a variance in earned wages between men and women because of gender inequality. The image above shows statistics in 2010; men earned an annual wage of $41,760 and women earned an annual wage of $36,000. This is a 16% pay gap between men and women in Australia. There are greater numbers of women working today, but they are paid less than men even if their have the same qualification for the job position. Moreover, women have unequal opportunity within the workplace just because of their gender. They are placed in lower job position than men and don’t get the same respect from others. Within the workplace, gender inequality plays a huge role which has an effect on an individual’s life.
