Ecological Theory

The Ecological Theory is the most appropriate theory to explain family and marriage problems. The theory has focused on the individual's reaction to their environment. A social environment that is determined by five different stages chrono, macro, exo, meso, and micro systems. All these different systems play an imperative in the development of problems in family and marriage. The image above illustrates how every one plays a role for example, chrono is the constant transitions and environmental events over a person's life course, as well as sociohistorical events. The Macro systems reflects the culture in which the individual or individuals interact in, the exo system reflects the links between social environment in which the individual does not have an active role. The meso system reflects the interaction or connections between contexts and last, the micro system reflects immediate environment relations that individuals share. The ecological theory is by far the most direct and clear theory to explain family and marriage problems.
