Feminist theory relates very much to the
conflict theory, which focuses on the oppression of the weaker majority in favor
of the minority. In this case women are oppressed by males not only in the
house but in the workforce too, women are said to have to endure the triple
shift which includes paid work, house work and childcare however they
are only paid for the job they do outside the home. Feminism looks at the
inequality between males and females, they aim to defend and protect women's
rights. There are also different areas of feminism some of these include Marxists
feminists, liberal feminists and black feminists all agreeing that patriarchy and gender imbalances exists but feel there are other factors that
increase this.
I believe that the feminist theory is the most
plausible in relation to family and marriage. The above picture shows a poster
from World War II, 69 years ago, where women were primarily homemakers with
very few having paid jobs outside the home. And 69 years on many males in
society still feel a woman's 'job' is to clothe, feed and take care of the men
and children in the family. I find it quite astonishing that little has changed
in the mindset of mainstream society. Although women now have full time jobs
and have a lot more freedom and choice in how they wish to live their lives, we
only have to look at the division of labor in households to see that women are
still the 'employees' of the home.
Women may have helped to win the war, but it’s
about time they win the war on Feminism!
I also believe is Feminist Theory that can best describe marriage and family issues. The theory describes the inequality of gender; the theory best explains how people are fighting for social equality and power. Is based on the individuals with power, which t defines the different opportunities and resources for the individual. In society is most acceptable for the head of the household to be the male and the female is the one that follows that authority. It is this kind of issues that the Feminist theory takes place in; the theory tries to define the inequality and give equality to women.
ReplyDeleteThe picture above shows a woman exclaiming “women power”. It shows her flexing her left arm, which shows that she has power.
