From my point of view the Feminist Theory helps explain marriage and family problems since this theory suggests that there is an inequality and inbalance between men and women. This can cause tension among a family or marriage for various reasons. In the household for instance there is a disparity between men and women. Women tend to do more housework and look after the family regardless if she holds a job outside the home. This can create a problem since she does more work eventhough, she also might support the family economically causing a power inbalance. Women tend to be doing a second shift something most men do not have to deal with. In addition, if the roles are reversed and the woman makes more money than the man of the house this can cause conflict since it is the norm for men to support and make more money than the women. Ultimately, social norms and gender roles have been so embedded within larger society that they influence family and marriage life.
