Parenting Styles

Each parent has their own parenting style on the way they want to treat and teach their children. We have Kohn who believes in two different parenting styles which include conformity and self-direction. Conformity which fits best with the working class occupation workers who have a routine, are under strict supervision, and have a coordinated group or team action and that is what they are trying to teach their kids. While at the other hand, there is self-direction pertaining to the higher income class whose style stresses child's motives and development of self-control, consideration, reasoning, curiosity and initiative conformity meaning that it is okay to be curios and they should not worry too much because if they already have a job it in highly unlikely they will lose it.
Then there is Baurimand who has three parenting styles: Authoritarian style which demands absolute obedience often used as punishment to control behavior, Permissive which is autonomy, freedom to express conformity and have few rules to follow, The Authoritative style also encourages freedom and automony but relies on positive reinforcement avoiding as much as possible the punishment. These parents are in control of their children in one way or the other.
Finally, there is Lareau with the Concerted Cultivation style which fosters and assess children's interests and abilites. These parents will have their child's daily activities planned out. They will be enrolled in a club or sports. Other parents will use Accomplishment of natural growth style. The children are more independent and rely less on their parents they do most of the things on their own.
Out of all of these parenting styles, I like Baurimand's Authoritative parenting style better because parents demonstrate a high degree of acceptance, high nurturance, moderate communication while they still keep the control level very high. They are being strict but at the same time showing them good morals and respect, love and freedom.
